Revolution Laboratories Releases a Protein ... - Body Health & Fitness

Solana Beach, California (PRWEB) September 27, 2012

As if Revolution Laboratories, LLC was not already selling their most popular protein supplement for cheap enough, RevLabs decided to double the size of the ProRev bottle! Additionally, since their customers have been so dedicated and supportive, Cheif Opperating Officer Joshua Nussbaum has decided to give customers 10% for entering the promotional code ?Jeesh?.

The increase in size and the discounted price does not mean Revolution Laboratories is skimping on the top of the line ingredients. ProRev will still contain the same amazing supplement facts that health fanatics all over the world have learned to love. The supplement fact highlights include:

113 Calories (only 9 from fat)

24g of Blended Whey Protein

1g of Fat

2g of Carbs

1g of Sugar

With the same great taste as the old version of ProRev, this decision will no doubt contribute to Revolution Laboratories acquiring even more market share but will it be profitable? Only time will tell.

Atrix 4G, Photon 4G and Electrify will not receive Ice Cream Sandwich, says Motorola

Motorola Mobility

Well this is tough news. Motorola Mobility has been maintaining an update chart and evaluating its current device lineup as to which devices should go forward with Ice Cream Sandwich and Jelly Bean. Just a few days ago, they delayed several devices having previously said they would get the upgrade in Q3. Now, they have announced the Atrix 4G, Photon 4G and Electrify will not be receiving the update and will be remaining on Gingerbread.

This is not good news.  We hope this is just a difficult transitional period for Motorola and that they will learn from this. We bet that they will, but that still doesn't help all of you who currently own these devices.

So we feel for you and we'll be here to help you install unofficial updates. You'll probably want to sound off in the forums, and we don't blame you, so here are the links:

Their update chart has also been updated to reflect the changes.

Therapy over the phone as effective as face-to-face, study suggests

ScienceDaily (Sep. 28, 2012) ? A new study reveals that cognitive therapy over the phone is just as effective as meeting face-to-face. The research was published September 28, in the journal PLoS ONE.

Researchers at the University of Cambridge together with the National Institute for Health Research Collaboration for Leadership in Applied Health Research & Care (NIHR CLAHRC) and NHS Midlands & East also found that providing talking therapy over the phone increases access to psychological therapies for people with common mental disorders and potentially saves the NHS money.

For the study, data from 39,000 patients in seven established Improving Access to Psychological Therapies (IAPT) services (an initiative which aims to expand the availability of psychological therapies) in the East of England were used to compare Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT) delivered face-to-face versus over the phone. For all but an infrequent, identifiable clinical group with more severe illness, therapy over the phone was as effective as face to face, and the cost per session was 36.2% lower.

Patients may be unable to access health services due to transport problems, work commitments and physical disability, among many reasons. So increasing availability of talking therapies over the phone will make mental health services more accessible to patients.

On the back of the study results, NHS Midlands & East has instigated a regional training programme to standardise service delivery and ensure therapists are competent at phone contacts. The training programme has recently been extended into a partnership with a third party organisation.

Professor Peter Jones, Principal Investigator of the study from the University of Cambridge, said: "Providing therapy over the phone will not only help individuals gain much-needed access to mental health treatment, it will provide a more cost effective way of providing these services at a time when everyone is concerned about cutting costs."

Mental health illnesses affect one in four adults in Britain every year. Additionally, the NHS spends more on mental health than it does on cancer, heart disease, stroke and asthma put together (a total of ?9.95 billion in 2010-2011), with general practitioners spending more than a third of their time on mental health issues.

Facebook Messenger for iOS is now even better for chat fanatics

Facebook yesterday updated its standalone Messenger app on iOS to fully support the iPhone 5 and iOS 6, while also adding some useful features for chat addicts.

In addition to general speed improvements, the Messenger app now lets you swipe left to instantly get access to your favorite Facebook chat buddies, as well as to see who?s online. The design of Messenger?s conversations has also been updated with chat bubbles ? giving the app a look more reminiscent of IM applications and Apple?s iMessage.

The updates make it clearer who this app is for: hardcore Facebook messaging users. It?s now an even more useful way for Facebook users to chat with their friends without dealing with all of the features in the company?s bigger app.

Facebook last month completely revamped its iOS app with a slew of speed improvements. The social network also recently updated its Android app with an intriguing messaging feature: the ability to combine texts and Facebook messages in a single interface. Unfortunately, that feature will never be possible within iOS, given Apple?s strict restrictions with its software.

Woman Protects Cat From Husband By, er, Shooting Him | Babble ...

audreymiller 300x265 Woman Protects Cat From Husband By, er, Shooting HimApparently, Audrey Miller (pictured) was arguing with her husband when he threatened to shoot one of her beloved cats with a pellet gun.

Her response? She shot him in the stomach instead.

This all happened in Harris County, Texas. Luckily, the husband is currently in stable condition after surviving the surgery to repair the damage the .40 caliber handgun did to him.

Now, I don?t condone shooting most of the time. But I also don?t condone threatening pets with violence. After all, they are smaller than we are and trust us to take care of them.

Still, I don?t condone the shooting. Really.

HAPPINESS RUNS: Movie Trailer

HAPPINESS RUNS: Movie Trailer

A young man named Victor realizes the shortcomings of the utopian ideals on the hippie commune where he was raised. Victor?s mother is funding the commune where the guru Insley hypnotizes and seduces women with a technique he calls "running." Insley manipulates the minds of these women so that they give him their bodies and all their worldly possessions. Victor?s childhood love, Becky, returns to take care of her deathly ill father. Victor, haunted by visions of Becky?s death, is desperate to save her and himself by escaping from the polygamous cult. Preoccupied with Insley?s free love philosophy, the adults of the community overlook the painful reality that the self destructive behavior of their children is most certainly due to early exposure to sex and drugs. To afford an escape, Victor tries to sell weed but is cut out by rivals competing for Becky?s affection. Finally, Victor is torn between getting money from his mother who is entirely under Insley?s influence, dealing with the violent drama of his drug-addled friends, and staying to save Becky as she spins out of control.

Sigha ? Self Improvement / Living With Ghosts | Music News | Blah ...

Sigha is an artist who is most commonly known for producing claustrophobic techno rollers, however to stop their is perhaps an injustice to the Sigha sound. Whilst the majority of his work since his tortured 2009 debut ?Bruised? on Hotflush Recordings is undoubetdly techno of the Berghain variety there is more going on than just cold clinical beats. With every release you feel that there is an atmosphere, almost as though someone else is in the room, this is not to say he is writing cinematic horror music but rather that, perhaps, his own pensive character is being projected into the music. This becomes even more apparent when the music washes away the beats and drifts into what can only be described as ambient electronic shoegaze, check the wistfully beautiful ?Abstractions I-IV?.

Sigha - Self Improvement / Living With Ghosts

?Self Improvement?, although not included on the fortcoming LP ?Living With Ghosts?, is a timely reminder of what to expect, exquisitely dark subterranean beats and menacing celestial soundscapes. ?Living With Ghosts? drops November 19th and on the strength of this will be pre-ordering a copy.

RIM Employee?s OOO Reply This Week Is Both Epic And Inspiring

blackberry_jam_america_2012-e1348599790388RIM is holding its yearly developers conference this week, playing host to over a thousand developers still dedicated to the BlackBerry platform. The company detailed several novel features to BlackBerry 10 scheduled for release in early 2012. And yes, there was this bad music video, too. Anyway, a fellow TC editor strangely posted a RIM employee's OOO reply earlier tonight. He called it both epic and sad. He stated it was delusional, yet awesome. He then laid into this random employee for having a positive outlook and faith in his struggling employer. This RIM employee deserves better. Much better. He (or she) deserves a pat on the back for sticking to the mission in spite of all the mud that's been flung. Sure, the OOO reply was a bit over the top, but that's what it's going to take to save RIM. And RIM is worth saving.

LONDON (AP) ? Rebekah Brooks, the former chief of News Corp.'s British newspapers, and Andy Coulson, the ex-communications chief for Prime Minister David Cameron, will face trial next September over allegations linked to phone hacking.

Brooks and Coulson appeared in London's Old Bailey court Wednesday for a hearing along with five other people charged in connection with the phone hacking scandal that originated at the News of the World tabloid and rocked Rupert Murdoch's News Corp. empire.

The defendants, charged with conspiracy to hack voicemails, spoke only to confirm their names. A provisional trial date was set for September 2013.

Former news editor Greg Miskiw, former head of news Ian Edmondson, ex-chief reporter Neville Thurlbeck, former reporter James Weatherup and private detective Glenn Mulcaire were in court, too. Ex-managing editor Stuart Kuttner ? who was also charged ? was excused from attending the hearing.

They are accused of participating in a campaign of espionage which targeted hundreds of celebrities, sports stars, politicians and crime victims.

Among the hacking targets was Milly Dowler, a 13-year-old girl abducted and murdered in a case that drew national attention. Journalists allegedly eavesdropped on her mobile phone, listened to her voicemail messages, and deleted some of them in order to make room for more.

Brooks, Coulson and the other former News of the World employees stand accused of one conspiracy to access voicemails which prosecutors say could affect up to 600 victims, along with other charged in relation to specific individuals.

Mulcaire is charged with four counts related to particular people.

Separately, Brooks is also charged along with her husband and five other people with conspiracy to pervert the course of justice over allegations she tried to hide information from police investigating the scandal.

PFT: Ref nightmare NFL feared has happened

Green Bay Packers v Seattle SeahawksGetty Images

Even before Monday night?s Packers-Seahawks game, the officiating lockout had reached a tipping point.? Casual, Super-Bowl-only fans were buzzing about the brouhaha, and the NFL?s ?remain calm . . . all is well . . . ALL IS WELL!? mantra was regarded as laughable.

But the NFL had been lucky.? No game had been decided by a bad call in a decisive moment.

So much for that.

The Packers lost a game they should have won because the replacement officials failed to call what happened on a last-second Hail Mary an interception by the Packers.? Instead, the officials deemed it to be a Golden Tate touchdown ? and all hell broke loose thereafter.

The call was so shocking that few are even mentioning the blatant push-off from Tate, which immediately preceded the arrival of the ball.

It amounts to anarchy in the NFL, and it will get worse as Tuesday unfolds.? Even employees of the NFL?s in-house media company have started to break ranks, with NFL Network fantasy football analyst Adam Rank tweeting, ?Well, now it?s time for WWE RAW, where at least I know what I?m getting from the officiating.?

The NFL?s official Twitter account actually retweeted Rank?s rip ? and then deleted it.

We?ll have much to say about this one as the day unfolds.? But there?s really nothing the NFL can say, or do, at this point other than to work out a deal with the locked-out officials, bring them back to work, and move on.

The league took a calculated risk, and it failed.? The sooner the NFL owns up to its mistake, the sooner the league can begin to scrape off the shield the stuff about which Ravens fans were incessantly chanting on Sunday night.

In Green Bay, bringing back the officials may not be enough.? A vocal and spirited and zealous fan base has been stirred up by last night?s debacle.? Anything other than an apology from the league office could make Commissioner Roger Goodell as popular in Wisconsin as he is in Louisiana.

And then there?s the question of whether the NFL will change the outcome of the game.? During last Friday?s PFT Live, an astute reader asked via Twitter if the NFL would wipe out a game-deciding error by the officials.? I explained that it would be possible only if a horrible call that determined the outcome occurred on the final play of the game.

That?s what happened last night ? and the next question becomes whether the NFL will consider doing what everyone except Seattle fans would consider the right thing and wipe the touchdown off the board and call the final score Packers 12, Seahawks 7.

Ryan faults Obama on plan to close tank factory

LIMA, Ohio (AP) ? Republican vice presidential nominee Paul Ryan warned Monday that more Americans could be put at risk overseas by the Obama's administration plan to halt production of tanks in Ohio for several years.

The White House has proposed suspending production at the nation's only tank manufacturing plant because the Pentagon says it will soon have enough tanks. Some members of Congress are attempting to restore funding for the tanks and other military weapons in a defense spending bill, a move the White House has threatened to veto.

About 800 workers refurbish the Abrams tanks in Lima, about 80 miles south of Toledo. Republicans in the state have been highly critical of plans affecting the plant and say they won't save the government money.

General Dynamics Corp.'s land systems unit, which operates the government-owned plant, estimates that the cost of shutting down the plant and then restarting it would be $1.6 billion while keeping it open with minimal production over four years would cost $1.4 billion. The Army puts the price of pausing production much lower ? around $400 million.

"We need peace through strength," Ryan told supporters during a rally in Lima. "We need a strong military."

Pamela Anderson 'disappointed' after 'DWTS'

Craig Sjodin / ABC

Pamela Anderson and pro partner Tristan MacManus were the first pair to get the ballroom boot on "Dancing With the Stars: All-Stars."

By Michael Maloney, TODAY contributor

Somebody had to go first on the all-star season of ?Dancing With the Stars? and even though Pamela Anderson has a legion of fans from her ?Baywatch? days, the blond bombshell got her walking papers after her premiere performance on the show.

The axed star passed on doing a good portion of the post-show press line as a few others (including Shannen Doherty, Toni Braxton) have done in the past on "Dancing."

"Pam is with her family," Tristan MacManus, Anderson?s pro partner, explained to reporters after the Tuesday night's results show. "They flew in to see her dance (on Monday.) She hasn?t seen then in a while and she?s spending time with them before they fly home."

How was she feeling? "Obviously, she?s disappointed," MacManus responded. "We both are. Nobody wants to go first, but at the same time, somebody needs to go so the others can move on."

The couple?s cha-cha-cha on Monday met with bad reviews. The judges certainly didn?t care for it as evidenced by their low score (the couple earned a 17), and the audience didn?t seem to respond to it too positively either.

"It?s a story that Pam wanted to tell in the dance," MacManus explained to reporters. "Granted, it didn?t go as well (as we would have liked.) We didn?t get a lot of rehearsal time, but we can?t use that as an excuse. Other people have injuries and commitments."

What?s next? Anderson has expressed an interest in doing Broadway, but her partner was unable to shed light on any specific plans she has. As for MacManus himself, he hopes to appear on results shows throughout the rest of the season.

"It?s hard to feel like you?re a part of the competition when you go so early, but if they want me to dance on Tuesdays I will," he said. "I think of it this way -- I still have 12 (pairs of) friends in the competition."

Topical use can cure rheumatoid arthritis.

2. Drug treatment analgesics: as pharmaceutical raw materials, the medical effects of capsaicin, recently received a lot of special attention. The scientists found that capsaicin does not produce drug dependence of neurological drugs, has a powerful drug and analgesic efficacy. Use high purity capsaicin to make of the injection of the drug treatment is a broad-spectrum efficient new drugs, in drug treatment has a powerful role for almost all drug addiction, so it has a broad space for development, the analgesic injection made with capsaicin for the massive trauma, produced by advanced cancer pain has a strong blocking effect. The analgesic efficacy and heroin considerable, but it does not produce the drugs dependence like heroin.

4. Natural red pigment: With the constant discovery of synthetic pigment toxicity, countries in the world to use synthetic pigment varieties dwindling, the use of non-toxic harmless natural materials to extract food coloring has become an inevitable trend. Prohibit the use of chemical pigment agreement signed with the EU countries, capsanthin has been the product of choice as a red pigment.

Pure capsanthin is a deep rouge red needle-like crystals are naturally exist in the four terpene natural pigment of ripe red pepper fruit, which polar red component is capsanthin and Capsorubin of (Capsorubin) is 50% -60% of the total, and the other is the polarity tiny yellow components, the main component of the B-carotene (B-Carotene), the zeaxanthin (Zenxanlthin), and pepper flavin (Crytoxanthin ), they are with vitamin A activity. Acidifying seas threaten island nations' food security ... - Eco-Business

Food security problems caused by climate change and ocean acidification will hit small island and coastal nations hardest, environmental group Oceana said on Monday.

The Comoros islands in the Indian Ocean headed the non-profit group?s rankings of nations most vulnerable to the combined effects of higher carbon dioxide emissions and ocean temperatures, and the increasing acidity of the world?s water.

Nations that depend heavily on seafood as a source of protein may face increased food insecurity, with shellfish like oysters, clams and mussels particularly vulnerable, it said.

Togo, the Cook Islands, Kirbati, and Eritrea rounded out the report?s top five.

?Most of the nations that will suffer have done very little to cause climate change,? the study?s author, marine scientist Matthew Huelsenbeck, said, noting those hardest hit rely on small-scale fishermen who are not equipped to chase retreating fish into colder, deeper, and more distant waters.

The report coincided with the third ?Symposium on the Ocean in a High CO2 World? in the Californian coastal town of Monterey, which is addressing increased ocean acidification.

The Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change is due to report in 2014 on ocean acidification, which the symposium estimated had advanced by 30 percent since the start of the industrial revolution.

Climate change was projected to worsen over the next half-decade, and fishing industries in the United States and developed nations would suffer too, the Oceana report showed.

Engadget Live Join us at 4AM ET for an 'ask me anything' Q&A with Nokia CEO Stephen Elop!

You may have since forgotten, but today was the original kick-off day for Nokia World 2012. With the big show canceled and the devices already launched, we instead opted to drop by the smartphone maker's headquarters just outside Helsinki. We're spending three days here in Finland, meeting with executives to get an inside look at the company's next-generation smartphone lineup. Our first face-to-face is with Nokia's chief executive himself, Stephen Elop, who has generously offered up 30 minutes to answer your questions. Because of the time constraints, we won't be able to accommodate every request, but we'll certainly do our best.

There are two ways to submit your questions: leave a comment below, or you can send us a tweet @EngadgetLive -- once the session begins, we'll only be able to accept messages through Twitter, and you're welcome to ask questions before we start and as a follow-up to Stephen's responses, as well. In order to accommodate the largest possible audience, we'll be using our liveblog tool to post both questions and answers, so bookmark this page and hop on over there at 4AM Eastern tomorrow. As always, you'll also find the local time just below. Now about those questions...

Gonzalez gives Dodgers a boost

By JOE KAY

CINCINNATI (AP) - The Dodgers know that their latest win has to be the start of something spectacular.

Adrian Gonzalez hit a pair of solo home runs off Homer Bailey on Sunday night, powering Los Angeles to a 5-3 victory over the Cincinnati Reds that let the Dodgers keep pace in the wild card race.

They remained three games behind St. Louis and a half-game behind Milwaukee for the final NL playoff spot. All three teams won on Sunday.

The Dodgers have dropped 11 of their last 17 games. They are off Monday before starting a three-game series in San Diego. The Dodgers finish the season with six games at home - three against Colorado, three against NL West-champion San Francisco.

That is nine games to make up a lot of ground.

"Just win, man, that's all that matters," Gonzalez said. "We can't go out there and win a series anymore. We've got to go out there and try to sweep. We win nine games, that gives us a legitimate shot at this."

While the Dodgers felt the pressure of trying to stay in contention, the Reds rested several regulars a day after clinching their second NL Central title in three years. Cincinnati manager Dusty Baker briefly visited the players in the clubhouse after his release from a Chicago hospital, where he was treated the last four days for an irregular heartbeat.

"I thought he looked great," left fielder Ryan Ludwick said. "He was in good spirits. It was great to see his smile, and he got a lot of hugs from us. He was cool, calm and collected. We all want him here, but we know it's going to take some time."

The 63-year-old Baker became ill while the team was in Chicago last week. The Reds won the title without him on Saturday night, raising a toast to him in the clubhouse after their 6-0 victory.

Cincinnati is off on Monday and will open a three-game series against Milwaukee on Tuesday, giving Baker a day to rest. The Reds are a half-game behind Washington for the best record in the NL and the top seed in the playoffs.

Bailey (12-10) allowed five hits in 6 2-3 innings, including the two homers by Gonzalez, who has five in his career off the right-hander. His second homer started a four-run seventh inning that also featured Mark Ellis' RBI double.

"I'll tell you one thing: If you want to get Adrian Gonzalez hot, have him hit against me," Bailey said. "I throw balls out of the (strike) zone, and he still hits them out."

Shawn Tolleson (3-1) got the victory with one perfect inning in relief. Ronald Belisario gave up a two-run homer by Denis Phipps - his first in the majors - in the eighth inning. Brandon League pitched the ninth for his fifth save in five chances with LA.

After the loss on Saturday night, the Dodgers changed their pitching plans for the final game of the series, letting their 2011 Cy Young winner see what he could do. Clayton Kershaw hadn't pitched since Sept. 11 because of a sore hip and probably wouldn't have made another start if LA was out of contention. He managed five ragged innings.

"He was just rusty more than anything else," manager Don Mattingly said. "He's Clayton. He's going to keep fighting and battling. He wanted to stay in the game even then."

The left-hander faced a Reds lineup missing four regulars who got the day off after they clinched. Ludwick, right fielder Jay Bruce, third baseman Scott Rolen and shortstop Zack Cozart sat out.

Kershaw hit Chris Heisey to open the Reds' first inning and needed 92 pitches to get through five innings, leaving with the score tied at 1. He fanned Joey Votto with the bases loaded in the fourth to keep it tied at 1.

He was disappointed when Mattingly pinch hit for him leading off the sixth.

"Obviously, I was not pitching that great, but you never want to pitch five innings and call it a day," Kershaw said. "Physically I felt fine. I wasn't throwing strikes, but it wasn't because of the hip."

NOTES: Mattingly plans to start RHP Josh Beckett as planned on Tuesday, then have RHP Aaron Harang go on Wednesday. ... Gonzalez is 8 for 15 with five career homers off Bailey. It was his 14th career multihomer game and his first of the season. ... A.J. Ellis snapped an 0-for-30 slump. ... SS Hanley Ramirez fouled a ball off his left shin in the seventh inning, singled and left for a pinch runner, limping as he headed for the dugout. ... Votto missed 48 games because of two operations for torn cartilage in his left knee. He is batting .314 without a homer in 17 games since his return. ... C Ryan Hanigan left with a bruised right shoulder, hit by a pitch that bounced. Precautionary X-rays were negative.

New Report Shows Plugging in Our Cars Can Significantly Reduce Drivers? Fuel Bills Creating Tens of Thousands of Jobs for California

New Economic Analysis to be Released on Sept. 23 - National Plug In Day Shows Every Dollar Saved at Pump Creates 16 Times More California Jobs

LOS ANGELES--(BUSINESS WIRE)--As California drivers struggle with gasoline prices well over $4 a gallon, and a cumulative $60 billion was spent on gasoline during the past year alone, a new economic research report to be released on National Plug In Day on September 23rd shows that drivers may have another option that's better for the state's economy. The report, commissioned by CalETC, shows that plug-in electric cars can create nearly 100,000 California jobs and provide a powerful local economic stimulus that will benefit people of all incomes whether they drive electric cars or not. The Executive Summary and editorial cartoons (also available in high resolution for print) have been released today and the full report, fact sheet and executive summary will be available on Sunday at www.caletc.com.

?This report shows the economic benefits of electric vehicles can help all Californians since electricity as a transportation fuel is significantly less expensive than gasoline, costing the equivalent of $1.50 per gallon?

?This report shows the economic benefits of electric vehicles can help all Californians since electricity as a transportation fuel is significantly less expensive than gasoline, costing the equivalent of $1.50 per gallon,? says Eileen Tutt, Executive Director, California Electric Transportation Coalition. ?Every dollar saved at the gas pump and spent on other goods and services that households want and need creates 16 times more jobs in the state. Simply put, a dollar saved on gasoline by driving cars fueled by electricity is spent largely in the state economy creating diverse, bedrock local jobs ? and that money keeps circulating in the local economy.?

KEY FINDINGS

  • Electric Vehicles can be a catalyst for economic growth, contributing nearly 100,000 additional jobs by 2030.
  • On average, a dollar saved at the gas pump and spent on the other household goods and services creates 16 times more jobs than a dollar spent on refined petroleum product.
  • Unlike the fossil fuel supply chain, the majority of new demand financed by PEV efficiency savings goes to in-state services, a source of diverse, bedrock jobs.
  • Individual Californians gain from electric car deployment whether they buy new cars or not. Average real wages and employment increase across the economy and incomes grow faster for low- and middle- income groups than for high-income groups.

?Plug-In electric vehicles stimulate economic growth by promoting transport efficiency, reducing the cost of transportation fuel and saving money for households and enterprises,? said the report?s author Dr. David Roland-Holst. ?These savings return as a variety of expenditures that are, on average, more job-intensive and less import dependent than the petroleum fuel supply chain. Consequently, the new expenditures have stronger ?multiplier? effects on state product and create many more jobs than they displace.?

?The average California driver spends $2,400 a year on gasoline. Electricity as a transportation fuel will cut those fuel bills by one third, help families save money while cutting pollution and decreasing our oil dependence. Those are tangible economic benefits for the all Californians.? said Max Baumhefner, Sustainable Energy Fellow at the Natural Resources Defense Council (NRDC).

To appraise the economic impacts of PEV deployment on the California economy, the report utilizes the Berkeley Energy and Resources (BEAR) model, a general equilibrium model. The BEAR model has been used in numerous instances to promote public awareness and improve visibility for policy makers and private stakeholders. The BEAR model has been peer reviewed and fully documented. The model considers both direct and indirect effects across the economy. This kind of empirical evidence helps to improve the understanding of the many indirect benefits of PEV deployment. While most studies only emphasize the costs and benefits to individuals or families, this one finds the action of accelerating the deployment of PEVs in the light-duty vehicle fleet actually saves money and increases employment overall because the indirect effects are so important.

ABOUT CalETC

CalETC was created over 15 years ago with a charter to promote electric transportation as a means reach the clean air goals in California. We have worked tirelessly to support all forms of electric transportation. Over the last 15 years electric off-road equipment has become commonplace with forklifts, airport equipment, lawn equipment and other types of off-road equipment transitioning to clean electricity. This transition has resulted in significantly lowering the use of petroleum in these various categories, paving the way for the next wave of on-road large-scale deployment of electric vehicles. With every major auto maker announcing production or upcoming production of some manner of electric vehicle, California is poised to continue to lead the transition of the transportation sector away from petroleum and toward electricity. CalETC will continue to support all aspects of the transition to electric transportation, working closely with our government, environmental, and industry partners to ensure success.

(AP) ? West Virginia's Tavon Austin just can't get enough of Maryland.

Austin caught three touchdown passes in another remarkable game against his home-state Terrapins and No. 8 West Virginia outlasted Maryland 31-21 on Saturday.

A Baltimore native, Austin accounted for half of West Virginia's offense, catching 13 passes for 179 yards and setting a school record for career receptions.

"It was my last time playing Maryland," said Austin, a senior. "So there was a little bit on the line for me."

It's a good thing for the Mountaineers he felt that way.

Despite scoring two early touchdowns, West Virginia (3-0) looked flat at times, after averaging 56 points and 612 yards in its first two games against non-BCS conference opponents.

The Mountaineers punted on four of their first five possessions of the second half but wouldn't let Maryland (2-2) cut into a double-digit lead in beating the Terrapins for the seventh straight time.

"We didn't play our best offensively," said West Virginia coach Dana Holgorsen. "But it was enough."

Leading rusher Shawne Alston was limited by a thigh bruise and didn't get a carry. West Virginia was held to 25 yards on the ground.

Geno Smith often threw into tough coverage and had as many incompletions in the first half (nine) as he did in the first two games combined. He spent a lot of time getting knocked on his backside and finished 30 of 43 for 338 yards.

"I wasn't as sharp as I wanted to be," Smith said. "That's a credit to Maryland. They did a great job of mixing things up and giving us different looks."

Smith found a groove just before halftime, throwing for 64 yards on a drive capped by a 24-yard pass to Austin alone in the end zone for a 24-14 lead.

Maryland freshman Perry Hills threw for 305 yards and three touchdowns, two to freshman Stefon Diggs.

Hills had some success moving the Maryland offense with misdirection plays and screen passes. Maryland had more yards at halftime (212) than it did all of last week in a home loss to Connecticut.

But Hills was sacked five times and had little luck in the second half. With Maryland facing fourth-and-21 from its 32 with four minutes left in the game, Hills was intercepted by Wes Tonkery at the West Virginia 28 and the Mountaineers ran out the clock.

"I'm disappointed that we made some of the errors that we made that didn't allow us to have an opportunity to win toward the end of the game," said Maryland coach Randy Edsall. "I thought our defense played pretty well. Definitely thought we played well versus the run."

The game was billed as a matchup of all-purpose talent, and Austin and Diggs didn't disappoint.

Austin now has 208 career receptions, breaking the mark of 206 set by Jock Sanders from 2007-10. In three games against Maryland, he had 31 catches for 407 yards.

"This was Tavon's best game," Holgorsen said. "He played fast. His energy on the sidelines was tremendous. He was the one guy offensively who played his best game. I can't say that about the rest of them."

Diggs had a 42-yard scoring catch in the first quarter and a 56-yarder midway through the fourth. He caught three passes for 113 yards and had 63 yards on kick returns and 25 yards on punt returns.

"I went to him at the end of the game and told him that he was a good player ? but I couldn't let a young guy outshine me," Austin said.

On Maryland's second series of the game, West Virginia safety Darwin Cook slipped through the middle of the line unblocked and knocked the ball from Hills. Linebacker Doug Rigg scooped up the loose ball and went 51 yards for West Virginia's second defensive touchdown of the season.

It was a role reversal of the key play of January's Orange Bowl, when Rigg forced a fumble that Cook returned for a TD ? and famously knocked over the Orange Bowl mascot ? in a rout of Clemson.

Late in the first quarter, Austin caught a pass up the middle, bounced off a defender and went 44 yards up the right sideline to put the Mountaineers ahead 14-0. Austin capped West Virginia's scoring with a 34-yard reception midway through the fourth.
